Longtime Jerry Garcia collaborator Martin Fierro has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer and, like many musicians, does not have medical insurance. Luckily, a number of musicians have rallied behind the veteran saxophonist and will play a benefit concert at Sebastopol, CAs Odd Fellows Hall on February 29. The gig is being billed as three sets of Kanvus with special guests and all proceeds will help Fierro with his medical bills. The events organizers will also host a silent auction throughout the night and, to that end, are looking for donations from bands and musician (particularly signed CDs, posters, shirts, photographs and tickets to shows). Interested parties should contact promoters Falcor and Friends.
