The members of a number of West Coast jambands have formed the new project Chatterbox to occupy their downtime between tours. Chatterbox, features Darren Pujalet (Particle, Mickey Hart), Eric Gould (Particle, Banyan), Brian Jordan (Lauren Hill, Karl Densons Tiny Universe) and Mike Mangan (Big Organ Trio). The group will debut at San Francisco’s 12 Galaxies this Sunday with additional performers expected to join in as well (Particle and Phil & Friends perform in Mountain View, CA the previous night). Chatterbox describes its sound as powerful, high-energy events based on danceable, groove-based music with open improvisation. The band also will appear at San Diego, CAs Winstons OB on April 18 and likely will add additional dates over the summer months.
