Michael Arnone’s Crawfish Fest took place in Augusta, NJ this weekend featuring New Orleans icons like the funky Meters, Allen Toussaint, The Radiators and Bonerama, among others. In addition, local heroes Railroad Earth performed and violinist Tim Carbone scored a chance to collaborate with one of his musical inspirations. After Railroad Earths set, Carbone, who is also a pianist and guitarist, approached Toussaint backstage. The famed producer/singer then surprised Carbone by calling him onstage during his set to play an extended funk medley without any prior warning. Carbone was up for the task, however, and after fierce solo Toussaint brought the violinist back for an encore appearance. Railroad Earth will hit the road in support of the new studio album Amens Corner at Asheville, NCs The Orange Peel on June 4.
