Ann Marie Calhoun recently found a national audience after performing with the Foo Fighters at the Grammys, but the young fiddler seems to feel most comfortable on the jamband circuit. After sitting in with both the Disco Biscuits and Yonder Mountain this winter, Calhoun has appeared with Widespread Panic no less than three times since April, most recently this Saturday at Portsmouth, VAs Harbor Center. Calhoun took the stage for a handful of songs throughout the night, including Angels on High, The Take Out, Porch Song, Surprise Valley, Vacation, City of Dreams and the Doors Riders On The Storm.
In other collaboration news, Panic recently invited former Allman Brothers Band keyboardist Johnny Neel onstage to play on both Fishwater and It Ain’t No Use at Philadelphias Festival Pier. Widespread Panic will open a three-night run at North Myrtle Beach, SCs House of Blues this evening.
