Taj Mahal will release his first album in five years, Maestro, on September 30. The disc celebrates Taj Mahals 40th anniversary in the music industry and features cameos from a number of familiar faces, including Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Angelique Kidjo, Los Lobos and Ziggy Marley. The one thing Ive always demanded of the records Ive made is that they be danceable, Mahal said in a statement. This record is danceable, its listenable, it has lots of different rhythms, its accessible, its all right in front of you. Its a lot of fun, and it represents where I am at this particular moment in my life. The multi-instrumentalist will hit the road this fall for an extended tour, beginning with a September 25 stop at Napa, CAs Napa Valley Opera House.
