Last January Late Night with Conan O’Brien guitarist Jimmy Vivino celebrated his birthday and that of the late promoter Bill Graham with a performance by the Prisoners of 2nd Ave, a group Vivino formed a few years ago to explore the music associated with Grahams fabled Fillmore East. The night included guest appearances from Warren Haynes, Levon Helm, Al Kooper and Paul Shaffer. On Thursday January 8, Vivino will do it once again, with John Conte and Rich Pagano confirmed to join him and other musicians likely to show up as well. Vivino likely will be heading West later in the year when O’Brien takes over hosting duties on the Tonight Show, so it quite possible that many of his musical friends and associates will be inspired to come on out to the gig at New York City’s Cutting Room.
