The NYC Freaks Listserve will host their annual concert event this coming weekend. Freaks Ball IX will take place on Saturday January 10 at Brooklyn’s Southpaw. Doors will open at 8PM, at which point the new Derek Trucks Band release Already Free will be broadcast inside the venue. Then at 8:40PM Danjaboots, which consists of Joe Russo and Scott Metzger, will take the stage for a brief performance. They will be followed by the Rodney Speed Experience, the band fronted by longtime Wetlands Preserve employee Rodney Speed, joined by a variety of notable area musicians (quite possibly including Russo and Metzger and certainly drawing in longtime Wetlands staffer and Rocks Off major domo Jake Szufnarowski). England’s New Mastersounds is then scheduled to hit for an extended set followed by a rare performance from RANA. In addition, scene stalwart Danny Owen will DJ between sets, with tickets available online.
