The proposed merger of Ticketmaster and Live Nation still has some hurdles to cross. Both the House of Representative and the Senate have scheduled hearings to determine whether this merger might violate the Sherman Antitrust Act. Today at 2:30PM Eastern Time the Senate Judiciary Committee will take up this issue in a hearing entitled The Ticketmaster/Live Nation Merger: What Does it Mean for Consumers and the Future of the Concert Business? The witness list includes Irving Azoff, longtime artist manager and now CEO of Ticketmaster Entertainment, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino, JAM Productions Chairman Jerry Mickelson and Seth Hurwitz, Co-Owner of I.M.P. Productions and 9:30 Club. The proceedings will be webcast via the official U.S. Senate site.
