This past September Medeski Martin & Wood released Radiolarians I. The Radiolarian Series is ‘named after a type of single-celled organisms with dazzlingly intricate exoskeletons is designed to subvert the age-old music industry cycle of write>record>tour.’ Each of the projected three discs in the series evolved from brief writing sessions, followed by live performances where the material was honed, after which the trio immediately entered the studio to record the songs. Radiolarians II will hit on April 14, with Radiolarians III scheduled for August 4.
