Garaj Mahal has landed in the Northeast for two weeks of shows that open tonight in Somerville MA at Johnny D’s. David ‘Fuze’ Fiuczynski (Screaming Headless Torsos) will open this evening’s performance and one can expect will sit in with the group. From here, Garaj Mahal will travel through New England, with a stop in Portland, ME’s Port City Music Hall, followed by college plays at Middlebury on Friday and Keene State on Saturday. The quartet will then pick things up at the 8×10 in Baltimore on Wednesday the 29th, followed by performances in Virginia (The State Theater, 4/30), New York (The Blue Note, 5/1) and Pennsylvania (River Street Jazz Cafe, 5/2 and World Cafe Live, 5/3). The group has already recorded the follow-up to 2008’s wOOt, with the new disc expected to hit later this year.
