This past Saturday, Akron/Family guitarist Seth Olinsky co-conducted a portion of Rhys Chatham’s Crimson Grail for 200 Electric Guitars as part of Lincoln Centers Out of Doors Festival. The event took place in the famed New York venues Damrosch Park and found the Akron/Family guitarist leading 50 guitarists through the composition. The guitarists were lined up around the open space and ranged from unknown axe-men to familiar faces like Dana Janssen (Akron/Family), Ben Vida (Town and Country), Shannon Fields (Stars like Fleas), Adam Wills and Jon Philpot (Bear in Heaven), Bill Bruvold (Larval), Elia Eeg (The Coffee Beans) and Ernie Brooks (The Modern Lovers). Phil Lesh reportedly watched the show from the audience.
