Today marks the one year anniversary of LeRoi Moores passing. The Dave Matthews Band saxophonist died in Los Angeles from injuries he suffered in an ATV accident last summer.
Since Moores passing, the band has paid tribute to its co-founder with a Live Trax installment of his final show and an entire album dedicated to his memory, Big Whiskey and The GrooGrux King. The album also boasts cover art of a cartoon-ish New Orleans-style funeral focused on a portrait of Moore that was illustrated by Matthews himself.
Today, the band posted an over eight-minute video on its homepage from a July 26, 2003 performance of one of Moores favorite songsLoving Wings. The caption under the video is taken from a statement Matthews made on the night of Moore’s death: and we will miss him forever. The video is edited to focus on one of Moores signature solos that segues into an as-always intriguing drum solo by Carter Beauford.
