The Mother Hips will release a new studio album, Pacific Dust, on October 27 via Camera Records. The seminal California psychedelic roots-rock band reformed a few years ago after a short hiatus. In that time, many of the bands the Hips’ influenced—including Bay Area sensations Tea Leaf Green, Hot Buttered Rum, ALO, New Monsoon and Jackie Greene—found fame on their own. According to the band, “__Pacific Dust’s__ compositions about penning a song in your kitchen at 3:00 am (the thundering album opener ‘White Falcon Fuzz’), record company politics (garage-rock boogie ‘Third Floor Story’), and a father and son’s relationship through music (on the ballad ‘Young Charles Ives’) indeed tell the story of many American rock bands.”
