While much has made about Bob Dylan’s forthcoming Christmas album (and after all who wouldn’t want to hear the Bard’s take on “Do You Hear What I Hear?”), Kermit Ruffins is offering his own swinging take on a number of traditional holiday songs this season. The Rebirth Brass Band co-founder, who currently fronts the Barbecue Swingers, will release Have A Crazy Cool Christmas on November 20. A number of his former Rebirth bandmates will join him on the disc, as well as Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews and Irvin Mayfield. Have A Crazy Cool Christmas will offer such Christmas tunes as “Winter Wonderland,” “Little Drummer Boy” and “Silver Bells” (all three of which will appear on Dylan’s Christmas In the Heart so feel free to pick up both, compare and contrast). In addition, Ruffins’ disc will offer such originals such as “A Saints Christmas” and “Crazy Cool Christmas.”
