Multiple Debuts, Five Song Encore for Trey Anastasio and Classic TAB

Last night Trey Anastasio opened his 2010 tour with Classic TAB at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville, VA. The show served as a benefit for the Kristine Anastasio Manning Memorial Fund and took place on the 47th birthday of Trey’s sister, Kristine, who passed away due to neuroendocrine cancer last April. In an emotional moment towards the end of the night, Anastasio dedicated “At the Gazebo” to her, as part of a five song encore. The encore also included two debuts: “The Birdwatcher” (from Phish’s Party Time CD) and “Show of Life” (a new song reportedly co-written with Steve Pollak, aka The Dude of Life), as well as “Small Axe” and “First Tube.” The two set performance also saw the first live performances of “Liquid Time” from Party Time as well as well as “All That Almost Was,” another song co-authored with Pollak. For a bit more on what’s to come read our interview with TAB member Jennifer Hartswick. This evening the group is scheduled to perform in Washington. D.C. at the 9:30 Club.

He didn’t say they were. The encore also included two debuts: “The Birdwatcher” (from Phish’s Party Time CD) and “Show of Life” (a new song reportedly co-written with Steve Pollak, aka The Dude of Life), as well as “Small Axe” and “First Tube.” After he lists the 2 debuts he names the other songs. He didn’t say 4 debuts, did he?

Cleetusg, If you read it in the context of the article, the author is saying that “Small Axe” and “First Tube” were among the songs in the 5 song encore….not debuts…..dumbass

Neither “Small Axe” nor “First Tube” was a debut. But thanks for the writeup.
