Jim Lauderdale is set to release his second album of music co-written with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. Patchwork River is set for a May 11 release and is the follow-up to 2004’s Headed For the Hills which showcased 12 Lauderdale-Hunter compositions. The two first met in 1999 when Lauderdale invited Hunter to contribute lyrics to I Feel Like Singing Today, the album Lauderdale recorded with Ralph Stanley. Two years later Hunter visited Lauderdale and over the series of a few months, completed over 30 songs, with the first batch appearing on Headed For the Hills.

Lauderdale, who will tour in April with Elvis Costello & the Sugarcanes, will appear in Nashville, TN at the Station Inn this Saturday.
