As we’ve reported, Mike Gordon’s next solo album, Moss is set for an October 19 release via Rounder. On this disc, Gordon performs a variety of instruments and also is joined by Page McConnell, Jon Fishman, Joe Russo, Marco Benevento and Doug Belote. Of course Gordon is best known as a bass player and he is going to share the secrets of the instrument with one lucky individual. Anyone who pre-orders a copy of Moss will be entered into a drawing to win a “bona fide 60 minute, private bass lesson with Mike.” As the contest page also notes, “Never picked up a bass before in your life? Even better! We’ll finalize time and location with the lucky winner.” In addition, anyone who pre-orders the disc will receive one of “four Limited Edition sketch replications of the original Moss album cover concepts from Mike’s Journal – all individually signed by Mike himself.” Gordon will kick off his tour on November 6 at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA.
