Garcia with Fender Harvard Amp

Starting on June 5, an auction will take place to benefit the Amicus Foundation, which aids children and families at risk in Thailand. Bob Weir has authenticated, the auction item, a guitar custom made for Jerry Garcia in 1972. Nicknamed Lucky #13 (as it was the thirteenth instrument made by Alembic), Weir has signed a letter of authentication, sharing his belief that it was used on the first Jerry Garcia solo album. In the 1980’s Garcia gave this guitar to Matthew Kelly, during a recording session for Kelly’s A Wing and A Prayer release. Kelly in turn has donated the guitar to Amicus, where Kelly is Executive Vice President and Weir serves on the Advisory Board along with Donald Fagen and many others. The auction, which also includes a Fender Harvard practice amp owned by Garcia, will run from June 5-12, with additional details at Jerrygarciaguitar.com
