The String Cheese Incident have confirmed their most extensive tour since reuniting in mid 2010. The group’s Roots Run Deep Tour will take the band to many of their biggest East Coast markets. Highlights include the band’s traditional Southeast Thanksgiving Weekend run, the sextet’s first Northeast shows since 2007 and a special acoustic set at Nashville, TN’s Ryman Auditorium. String Cheese will also return to Athens, GA’s intimate Georgia Theatre for the first time since November 16, 2000 as part of the venue’s reopening celebration. The band regularly played the club from 1996-2000. Though The String Cheese Incident appeared at Bonnaroo earlier this year, the group has not visited the Ryman since 2002. The members of the group also plan to enter the studio to work on their first new recordings since 2005.

A statement from the band says:

It’s been really amazing to step back into the many great events we have had a chance to be part of, from Horning’s and Red Rocks to Winter Carnival and Electric Forest. However, there is nothing like getting on the road and immersing ourselves in the nightly flow of playing music for all of you out there. We are truly psyched to make it back to a lot of our old stomping grounds as well as visiting a few new venues along the way. We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to share our music with you, get reacquainted with many old friends and make a lot of new ones! You can expect some classic SCI as well as newer material that we will be honing for some new recordings coming in 2012.

After a short hiatus, the members of The String Cheese Incident played two shows in 2009. The band formally reunited a year later but has only made select appearances since their 2010 comeback shows. SCI ticketing for all the band’s upcoming shows will begin this Thursday, August 25.
