The Rolling Stones are the subject of Michael Dorf’s next all-star tribute show. The benefit performance will take place at New York’s Carnegie Hall on March 13, celebrating the music of The Rolling Stones and the 40th Anniversary of the release of their iconic collection Hot Rocks 1964-1971 . The concert will feature 21 artists playing the 21 songs from the album and takes place 48 years after the Rolling Stones made their 1964 Carnegie Hall debut. The first batch of artists scheduled to perform include: Rosanne Cash, Steve Earle, Glen Hansard, Rich Robinson, Carolina Chocolate Drops and The Mountain Goats. The concert marks the eighth installment of Dorf’s annual series which raises crucially needed funds for music education programs for underprivileged youth and boasts contributions of over $600,000 to date.

“I just finished reading ‘Life’ by Keith Richards and I’m more inspired than ever to honor the songwriting team of Jagger/Richards—especially the creative hit making period ‘Hot Rocks’ covers,” said in a statement Dorf. “To hear those songs interpreted through the voices of other great artists will make for yet another amazing night in this concert series. I am grateful for the participating musicians’ help in raising funds for the charities the concert’s net proceeds go to.”

Dorf’s previous tribute shows have featured Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, R.E.M., Neil Young and The Who. Each year 100% of the net proceeds from the concert are given to music education non-profits: The American Symphony Orchestra Music Notes, Church Street School of Music, Young Audiences, Music Unites, The Pinwheel Project, and FIKS (Fixing Instruments for Kids in Schools). This year, three new beneficiaries have been added: The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, Midori and Friends, and The Center for Arts Education.
