The Polyphonic Spree will host their ninth annual Holiday Extravaganza at Dallas, TX’s Lakewood Theater on December 10. The event will include a headlining set by the Spree, as well as a set of Christmas music by the band earlier in the evening. The show will also boast performances by the Syncopated Ladies dance troupe, the all-female tween rock band We’re Not Dudes and dj pendergrassin’, as well as zoo animals, photos with Santa, live reindeer, costumed characters, and a true Texas rarity: snow. Fans are encouraged to bring both a can of food for the North Texas Food Bank and a new toy for Toys For Tots.

The Polyphonic Spree have also released a new holiday-themed single, “It’s Christmas,” via their Good Records Recordings label. “It’s Christmas” is an original song composed by Spree leader Tim DeLaughter and recorded in 2003 during early sessions for the band’s second album, Together We’re Heavy. As the group explains, “The track was lost in the shuffle of recording a new album at the time, but it was recently unearthed and mixed, and is now available for the first time.”

The Spree will close out 2011 with a New Year’s Eve co-headlining show with Centro-Matic at Dallas’ House Of Blues in Dallas. Deathray Davies will support.
