Worldwide auction house Bonhams will present its ‘Visions of Garcia’ auction on May 8 (falling on the 35th anniversary of the famous Cornell show from 1977) in San Francisco, CA. The auction will offer memorabilia including rare pieces of Garcia’s artwork, custom guitars, and a 1983 Jerry Garcia-owned Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Notable inclusions in the list of auction items are rare oil paintings and airbrush originals by Garcia, Garcia’s sunglasses, handwritten set lists, a set of Bill Kreutzmann’s drums, Garcia’s amplifiers, a Takamine guitar used for acoustic shows from 1985 to 1988, an Ibanez guitar designed by Ibanez and Bob Weir for Garcia in 1977, Garcia sketchbooks, rare items from the Wall of Sound, the original preliminary cover art for Europe ’72 and much more.

Previews of the auction will take place in New York from April 11-16 and in San Francisco May 4-7. The auction itself will take place on May 8. An illustrated catalogue for the sale will be available online in the preceding weeks, for review and purchase at Bonham’s website.
