On Friday, Leftover Salmon performed their 4/20 “Up in Smoke” show at The Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA. During the first set, the group ran through a selection of tunes, including two nods to the 4/20 date with “Soul Shakedown Party” and “4:20 Polka,” while the second set saw a number guest sit-ins. First, Flannel Church’s A.J. Ghent sat in on Flatt & Scruggs’ “Doin’ My Time,” before the evening’s special guest Col. Bruce Hampton joined in on the Murff Brothers’ “Yield Not To Temptation” and Bukka White’s “Fixin’ To Die.” Guitarist Donna Hopkins appeared on stage later in the set, performing on two of her own tunes, “Dirty Alabama Road” and “Everything Money Can Buy.” Hampton reemerged later in the set on Skip James’ “I’m So Glad,” while Hopkins returned to help pay tribute to Levon Helm with The Band’s “Up On Cripple Creek.” You can check out photos from the performance below.
