Antibalas to Release First Album in Five Years

Brooklyn, NY’s afro-beat kings Antibalas will release their first album in five years on August 7 via Daptone. The self-titled album contains six new tracks which were recorded at Daptone’s House of Soul Studios in Bushwick, Brooklyn with former member and producer Gabe Roth.

In recent years, members of Antibalas served as the musical directors and house band in the Broadway musical FELA!, while also performing in a number of other projects including Iron and Wine, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Mark Ronson, TV on the Radio and The Roots. Additionally, tenor saxophonist Stuart Bogie formed the rising afro-jamband Superhuman Happiness, while guitarist Chico Mann made a name as a notable solo musician and drummer Miles Arntzen formed his own band, EMEFE.

Check out the first single from the album, “Sare Kon Kon,” over at Rolling Stone.
