Page McConnell to Play with The Metermen on Halloween

Phish keyboardist Page McConnell will perform as a guest keyboardist with The Metermen over Halloween. The performance will take place at New York’s BB King Blues Club on October 31 and November 1. The Metermen features three quarters of the original Meters lineup: drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, guitarist Leo Nocentelli and bassist George Porter, Jr. Tickets go on sale on July 20.

The show’s announcement also doubles as confirmation that Phish will not perform a special Halloween show this year. The Vermont Quartet is expected to work on a new studio album this fall and end the year with a series of shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

McConnell recorded with Mike Gordon and members of The Meters as The Gyptians for the late ’90s New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic benefit album Get You a Healin’. He also toured with Porter’s PBS project in 2008.

A lot of dumb here. that’s fine if you don’t care for rush, but to say they suck is a ridiculously foolish statement, especially given the obvious influence they have on phish

Have you ever seen rush live ? Rush is way better live. Just like Phish is way better live. Even Phish live recordings do not do them justice. You have to be there to really understand how good they are and other bands are live. So go see a live Rush show and listen to the lyrics and listen to one of the greatest drummers ever perform and then form your opinion. But remember that it is just that, your opinion which is only useful to you !

Wow, seeing Leo getting together with his Meters mates has to be cool as haill. I would love to see what Page can add to the mix with his own brand of viruosity on the keyboards. Should be cool. Oh, I almost forgot: Rush sucks.

Rush is sick. Phish is sick. Carter Beauford is def decent, probably the best thing DMB has going for it. Neil pert is among the best behind the kit whoever says otherwise is simply exposing just how little they know about the subject.

Peart is not the best rock drummer. That title belongs to Danny Carey from Tool. Period. I do agree w/ a few others though….Peart is the only thing Rush has going for them, as does the DMB by having CB.

Rush fucking blows their drummer like the police is the only good thing about either band.OMG if phish covered ANY rush album half the crowd would be asleep by the 3rd song and we all know rush would not make a good cover bc ever song is 3 minutes. you noobs need to look back and realize the ussually cover double albums or veyr long ones rush fucking sucks for a phish cover album. Now the album from mgmt kids that would rock hahaahjk

yes the drummer for rush is sick pert is sick cd from dmb is the only decent thing they have going but to listen to phish cover rush would be auwful. i was just kidding that the band sux but as a album covre no thanks. saw rush live and they do rock but whoever said see dcu ghost boogie i was there and my face is still there! They should next time cover the band or anything from hendrix i mean come on those 2 bands had way more of an influence that rush ever did or ever will

Actually for the bridge thing I would say it was more reelatd to the good luck and the fact that all the bridge came down all together so the people who were in the center of the bridge they landed! on the bridge again. It is true that police was there a minute after the accident but you should note that there are always many police cars at that area and the closest Hospital (U of M Hospital) is a minute from the place.I really do not like to consider this accident as a credit to the system, just because this happened and they could not see that in advance! The funny thing is I saw a couple of people the day of accident inspecting something behind that bridge and the other bridge which is very close to that and you can see it in the photos! I wish they were not testing the bridge!!
