The Suwannee Music Foundation has announced the Suwannee Valley Flood Jam: A Benefit for Suwannee, Hamilton & Columbia Counties. These shows will take place on August 17 and 18 at the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL. One hundred percent of net profits from the Flood Jam will be donated to local based charities in efforts to help those affected by floods that occurred earlier this summer. These floods were a result of Tropical Storm Debby, which hit north Florida for 4 days starting on June 24, 2012. It affected areas of Suwannee, Hamilton, and Columbia Counties, dumping over 25 inches of rain. The Suwannee River rose, causing the destruction of businesses and homes. 1500 families were forced to leave their homes, many left without any possessions. Over 10,000 others in the tri-counties were affected.

The lineup will feature artists such as Peter Rowan, The Lee Boys, Jamie Davis, and more. An online charitable action will be held for those not able to attend the concert. More information about that can be found on the official website.

The proceeds will go towards the charities Love INC. (based in Live Oak) and The United Way (based in Lake City, FL). The Suwannee Music Foundation and the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park have been working with Love INC. since the flood. Together, they have delivered supplies and provided care for households in desperate situations.
