Skerik’s Bandalabra played their debut New York show at Brooklyn, NY’s Cameo Gallery last night. During the performance, a number of New York-via-West Coast transplants sat in with the Seattle saxophonist. For the second set, they were joined by San Diego, CA-raised baritone-saxophone Cochemea “Cheme” Gastelum and Seattle-bred alto-saxophone Jessica Lurie as well as Nashville,TN’s Elizabeth Pupo-Walker on percussion. Late into the second set, Skerik’s old friend from Seattle Reggie Watts—who is currently making a name as a comedian and indie solo artist—jumped up onstage for an extended improvised piece.

The band is in the middle of their first tour beyond the West Coast supporting their new release Live At The Royal Room on Royal Potato Family. The run continues tonight at The Blockley in Philadelphia.
