moe. Play Three Full Albums, Bust Out Songs at the Ryman
moe. played three full albums during a three-set Halloween show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN last night. The band busted out a few songs that hadn’t seen the light of day since the late ’90s. Before the show, moe. promised to celebrate their own history this Halloween instead of looking outside their own catalog as in part years.
moe. kicked off this epic concert with a first set that consisted of an acoustic rendition of What Happened to the LA LA’s. The band played every track from their latest studio release in the order that they appear on the album. The band then ditched the acoustic instruments for the second set, playing the entirety of their first album, 1992’s Fatboy. The set ended with a bust out of the album’s closing track “The Battle of Benny Hill,” which hadn’t been played since February 1, 1997.
Continuing with the album theme, moe. opened their third set with “Akimbo” and “Mexico,” the first two numbers of their second album, Headseed, and proceeded to run through the album from start to finish. moe. managed to keep things interesting for the encore as well. The band busted out “The Coffee Tune,” which hadn’t been played since March 25, 1997, and “Brain Tuba,” which had not been seen since November 11, 1998.
