VH1 has named blues guitar revivalist Gary Clark Jr. its official “You Oughta Know” Artist of the month. Starting today, the channel will have the video for the Clark’s “Ain’t Messin ‘Round” in its “Gung Ho Rotation” slot. The distinction, which is given to only one artist at a time, means that the video will be played on VH1 more than any other for the time being. Gary Clark Jr.‘s debut album “Blak And Blu” has been a huge success, hitting No. 6 on the Billboard 100 in its first week. Every one of his upcoming U.S. dates has sold out, including his three night run at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City and his three night run at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. Clark also played a Hurricane Sandy relief show at the Brooklyn Bowl on November 6.
