Paul McCartney Joined By Nirvana, Joe Walsh On SNL

Paul McCartney was joined by a reunited Nirvana on Saturday Night Live last night. The group played their new original song “Cut Me Some Slack,” which they debuted earlier this week at the 12.12.12. Concert for Sandy Relief. McCartney was also joined by Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh for a rendition of his song “My Valentine” from his latest album Kisses On The Bottom. Later in the show, McCartney accompanied host Martin Short for a sketch that ended with the former Beatle singing his 1979 song “Wonderful Christmastime.”

You can watch a video of McCartney performing “Cut Me Some Slack” with Nirvana’s Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear above. Grohl and Smear backed Mick Jagger on SNL this past spring along with the rest of the Foo Fighters.

Our recap of the 12.12.12 Concert for Sandy Relief can be read here.

Personally, I think this mashup sucks, and is a detriment to the legacy of two legendary bands- and it is a no-brainer to say that each band defined the decades in which they were together.

When I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan my love for music began and when I saw Nirvana on MTV my faith in music was restored
