Jackie Greene will join The Black Crowes as a guitarist and vocalist during their recently confirmed tour dates. It appears that he will be replacing Luther Dickinson, who is currently touring with his longtime group the North Mississippi Allstars. The rest of The Black Crowes lineup remains the same, with Chris Robinson (lead vocals, guitar), Rich Robinson (guitar, vocals), Steve Gorman (drums), Sven Pipien (bass) and Adam Macdougall (keyboards). Greene has played with Chris Robinson in the past as part of the Weir, Robinson & Greene Acoustic Trio, in addition to both being a part of the ever-rotating cast of Phil Lesh’s Friends. (In related Crowes news, Chris Robinson recently told Hittin’ the Note that Neal Casal—who is part of Robinson’s Brotherhood band along with Macdougall—almost joined the band as a guitarist back in 2005 but was bumped due to Marc Ford’s brief return to the group).

As previously reported, The Black Crowes announced the first leg of their 2013 “Law Down With Number 13” tour yesterday. Tickets for the first leg will go on sale January 11 at 10:13AM local time. The dates for the second leg of the tour will be revealed shortly. In addition to the tour dates, The Black Crowes have also confirmed that they will be releasing Wiser For The Time, a 26-track live album that will be available as a vinyl and digital download on March 19. The album contains 15 acoustic and 11 electric songs from their five-night NYC run in the fall of 2010. An acoustic version of the song “Under a Mountain”—which is not on the album— can be downloaded for free here.
