Galactic Add Mardi Gras Shows, Cover The Beatles on New Year’s

Galactic celebrated New Year’s Eve at New Orleans’ Tipitina’s. The group offered a three-set show that featured regular collaborators like Living Colour singer Corey Glover and Rebirth Brass Band’s Corey Henry at various points throughout the night.

The band moved into 2013 during their first set, and celebrated with covers of “Auld Lang Syne” and The Beatles’ “I am the Walrus.” Later in the night, they also offered one of their most popular covers from the past two years, Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.” Glover sang both selections.

Galactic has also confirmed that they will return to Tipitina’s for their annual Mardi Gras shows at the venue on February 9 and 12. Fishbone will open for the ensemble on February 9 and Red Baraat will support on February 12.
