Wilco guitarist Nels Cline performed with Medeski Martin & Wood as part of their residency at New York’s Blue Note last year. The collaboration worked and MMW returned the favor by performing at Wilco’s Solid Sound this past June. Cline also recently joined MMW in the studio for quick recording session.

“We recorded two sets of improvised music at big barn studio called Applehead, near Woodstock and Saugerties,” Cline recently told Jambands.com “I’m not sure what town it is in. I had jammed with those guys on a couple of occasions. For me it’s kind of like being on a planet that I can understand and feel at home on.”

Now, the guitarist will join MMW on the road later this year. The musicians have confirmed the city itinerary for a European jaunt as well as the first list of confirmed venues. Cline will also perform with John Medeski and drummer Bobby Previte at New York’s LPR tomorrow as part of the Concerto for Percussion and Turntable during Winter Jazz Fest.
