As previously reported, Dave Grohl will curate a new TV series on HBO chronicling the recording of the new Foo Fighters album. Yesterday, the band unveiled the title and trailer for that series. Sonic Highways will document the band’s trek across the country, visiting different studios to craft their record.

In the voiceover, Grohl says that you could “tie all these people and places together with these sonic highways. This is a musical map of America.” Among the studios featured in the series are Rancho de Luna in California, Inner Ear Studios in Washington D.C., Electrical Audio in Chicago (run by Steve Albini) and more. The series also features interviews the likes of Paul Stanley, Joe Walsh and Nancy Wilson, among others.

Through various interviews, Grohl revealed that The Eagles’ Joe Walsh, Gary Clark Jr., Zac Brown and Preservation Hall Jazz Band all performed on the band’s album, which is due out this fall. The Foo Fighters also recently visited New Orleans to team up with Preservation Hall Jazz Band (and Trombone Shorty) for an impromptu show in New Orleans.

The band documented their travels briefly via social media, posting about the happenings at each studio on various Instagram and Facebook accounts.
