Neil Young Cancels Israel Concert Due to Security Concerns

Neil Young & Crazy Horse will not perform at Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon Park this week due to the conflict between Hamas and Israel. The show, originally scheduled for July 17, will no longer take place due to tensions that have rendered the event unsafe.

Young released the following statement: “I will be making donations to both the Louise Tillie Alpert Youth Music Centre of Israel, and Heartbeat, two organizations that teach music to Palestinian and Israeli youth simultaneously by enabling them to play music together.”

Last week, Roger Waters released a letter he wrote to Neil Young detailing his concerns with the show. The letter was penned months ago and was recently posted on Waters’ Facebook page. Read the full transcript here.

So, I guess this means that Roger Waters will be performing at this year’s Bridge Benefit.

There is a reason that David Gillmore hates Rodger.

Fuck Roger Waters and his ridiculous political beliefs. Trill us with your music and then leave…..

Roger is right. A cultural boycott of the apartheid regime in Israel is long overdue.

Wow, look at that, the Israeli shills are even on jambands.com. I guess no area of the internets is safe when the call goes out to defend the atrocities of the aparthied state of Israel in it wars of aggresion/genocide.

There is no black and white in this issue as there are forces within the Arab world that will settle for no less than the annihilation of Israel. I will be damned if I know the answer.

For all those honest out there, and who care..
Israeli settlements condemned internationally for the last 40 plus years (just a sample): International Court of Justice
United Nations Security Council
United Nations General Assembly
United Nations Human Rights Council
International Committee of the Red Cross
High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions (4th Geneva Convention, articles violated including 2 and 49)
Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
for fear of being condemned by the International Criminal Court for Article 8(2)(b)(viii), Israel has never agreed to ratify the Court more specifically:
UN Security Council Resolutions 271, 446, 452, 465, 471, 476
Before real hardline neoliberalism set in under Reagan, the administrations and legal advisory teams of Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Carter all characterized the Israeli settlements as illegal. Also of course all human rights groups, including B’Tselem, an Israeli group. When votes come up on this at the UN or other international agencies, they are always: The US and Israel on one side and the rest of the world on the other. Israeli govts could not and would never have been able to get away with their crimes if not for US power. Consequently, most of western media, especially the US, gives a wholly distorted and uninformed view of the issue. Rocknroll and best to all
