Gov’t Mule closed out their two-night stand at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, GA with a little help from some special guests last night. Keyboardist Ike Stubblefield and trumpeter Craig Sorrells were the first to make an appearance when they joined the group for covers of Ray Charles’ “I Believe To My Soul” and Billy Cobham’s “Stratus” in the middle of the second set.

The stage got a bit crowded during the encore, when Stubblefield, Sorrells and guitarists Benji Shanks and Marcus King sat in for a take on ZZ Top’s “Jesus Just Left Chicago.” The band then treated fans to a second encore of “Get Behind The Mule” with Stubbliefield, Sorrells and pedal steel guitarist AJ Ghent.
