The National’s Bryce Dessner will release Music for Wood and Strings, as performed by the New York collective Sō Percussion, on May 19 via Brassland Records.

The piece was written for Sō Percussion and originally premiered at Zankel Hall in 2013. The 36-minute piece will be performed by Sō in its entirety on April 27 at the BRIC House in Brooklyn. The performance caps Sō Percussion’s Spring Benefit which also inclues a preview of a collaboration between Sō and Radiolab host Jad Abrumad.

Music for Wood and Strings be issued as a CD and download on May 19 with a vinyl LP release slated for the spring. Pre-order via Brassland’s website.
