Trey Anastasio appeared at the The New Yorker Festival yesterday, playing a short acoustic set while talking with The New Yorker‘s Alec Wilkinson about his career, family life and, of course, this past summer’s Dead 50 concerts.

One of the songs played marked the debut performance of a track from Anastasio’s upcoming album, Paper Wheels. The tune, “Cartwheels,” was co-written by frequent collaborator Steve “The Dude of Life” Pollak.

The intimate festival appearance came in between tours for Anastasio, who has finished up his Phish summer dates and will kick off the Trey Anastasio Band’s tour on October 16 at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn. He also just celebrated his 51st birthday on September 30.
