Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington is reportedly in the hospital after suffering a serious heart attack on October 8, according to Ultimate Classic Rock.

In a note posted by Rossington’s daughter Mary Elizabeth, she says, “Please keep him and us in your prayers as well as all the amazing medical staff that have saved his life several times now. We were very close to losing him this time and just pray that they will develop even better techniques soon to deal with heart disease.”

Rossington has battled heart issues for some time, including undergoing a quintuple bypass in 2003. Most recently, he was hospitalized with an abdominal infection which forced the cancellation of a tour date. The band’s upcoming shows in Terre Haute, IN and Mt. Pleasant, MI have been put on hold and will be rescheduled for 2016.

The 63-year-old is the last remaining original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
