Last night Trey Anastasio kicked off his current tour in Brooklyn, NY at the Kings Theatre. Anastasio and his band started things off in a strong fashion with several debuts, including covers of Bob Marley, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Jimmy Webb.

The night featured several TAB songs with a healthy amount of covers and a bit of Phish thrown in for good measure. After an opener of “Gotta Jibboo,” Anastasio launched into a TAB debut of Bob Marley’s “Soul Rebel,” which can be viewed below.

After the Phish tune “Magilla,” which Anastasio wrote with keyboardist Page McConnell, the frontman dubbed McConnell the world’s biggest Mets fan and claimed he watches every game, even when on stage with Phish.

The first set also included a TAB debut of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s “49 Bye Byes,” which Anastasio introduced by sharing the story of the first time he met Graham Nash backstage at a concert in 2000 soon after Big Cypress. According to Anastasio, Nash congratulated him on his success, grabbed him by the shirt, and told him “Don’t fuck it up!”

“And that’s just what we went on to do. We fucked it right up,” Anastasio concluded. Watch the crowd banter and ensuing CSN cover below.

The show also featured a TAB debut of Jimmy Webb’s “MacArthur Park” and several tracks from the upcoming album Paper Wheels, including a live debut of “The Song.” See the full setlist below as it appears in our Box Scores section.
