Over the last month on Foo Fighters’ website, the band has teased a countdown that was set to end on November 23. With that date now here, the group has revealed a surprise EP dubbed Saint Cecilia that is available to download and stream via the band’s website. Dave Grohl also penned a lengthy open letter detailing the recording process, which stretches back to last October.

The five-song EP was recorded at Austin’s Hotel Saint Cecilia featuring five new tunes that have yet to see their live debut. The free EP is available to stream, download or pre-order on vinyl but the band is also encouraging donations to the families of the victims of the Paris attacks.

Grohl also updated that post recently to reflect the attacks in Paris. “Now, there is a new, hopeful intention that, even in the smallest way, perhaps these songs can bring a little light into this sometimes dark world,” Grohl said. “To remind us that music is life, and that hope and healing go hand in hand with song. That much can never be taken away.”
