Budding outlaw country artist Sturgill Simpson will return with his new album A Sailor’s Guide to Earth on April 15 via Atlantic Records. Simpson has premiered the first single “Brace for Impace (Live a Little)” via his website.

The self-produced album includes eight original songs as well as a cover of Nirvana’s “In Bloom.” A press release states that the album is a letter to his first child, who arrived in the summer of 2014.

Among the special guests on the album include his backing band that includes bagpipes, cello, violin and steel guitar along with Dave Roe on bass. The Dap-Kings are also featured on the record.
