Queens of the Stone Age are headed back to the studio this year, according to guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, who recently appeared on the Hours With Matt Pinfield podcast and revealed that the band has plans to record their follow up to 2013’s …Like Clockwork.

As Consequence of Sound reports, Van Leeuwen said that QOTSA will “do something before the end of the year, as far as recording goes,” adding, “We’ve already started talking about what we’re gonna do.” The guitarist also noted that the previous album was a “really, really big record” for the band “because it was the hardest to make. And we’re trying to not do that again. We just want to keep things simpler.”

QOTSA announced a hiatus in the spring of last year. Homme recently teamed up with Iggy Pop for Post Pop Depression, and Van Leeuwen is part of the new supergroup Gone Is Gone with members of At The Drive-In and Mastodon.
