The David Nelson Band have announced that their namesake will not be able to play their two-night run at Terrapin Crossroads next month, and Leftover Salmon’s Vince Herman will be filling in for Nelson during the performances.

In a statement released by the venue, the band wrote that Nelson, one of the founders of New Riders of the Purple Sage, is still recovering from a recent shoulder surgery and although his “healing is progressing well,” it’s “slower than anticipated” and he is unable to travel.

The shows, which will take place on November 18–19, will now be called the David Nelson Get Well Harvest Tour and will feature tributes to Nelson’s music and some tunes from Herman as well.

“We will miss David, but he’s fully supportive and relieved that Vince will be onboard,” the note reads. “He’s a big fan of Vince’s and is fully encouraging us that ‘the show must go on.’”

Refunds for the TXR shows are also available at point of purchase.
