Last night, My Morning Jacket played the first of two shows this week, leading up to to the band’s slot at this weekend’s Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oak, FL. The show, which took place at the Tivoli Theatre in Chattanooga, TN, featured a couple surprises covers, including one debut.

The first notable setlist addition came as Jim James led the way into Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” the first time the Jacket had performed the tune since their One Big Holiday destination event in January 2014. Near the end of the set, the band would take up Pink Floyd’s “Mother,” a tune the band has played a few times with Roger Waters as his backing band but have never performed live by themselves.

The night also featured tunes from the solo catalogs of frontman Jim James and guitarist Carl Broemel. First came “A New Life” from James, who premiered his full new solo effort today, and later the band played Broemel’s “Carried Away.” The guitarist also recently released his new solo record, 4th of July.

My Morning Jacket play tomorrow at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville, NC.
