Following an acoustic show in Aspen, Colo. that included bust outs of Pink Floyd’s “Fearless” and their own “Blue Eyed Son,” moe. were ready for their return to Red Rocks on July 12.

The band jammed straight through both sets, and gave themselves plenty of room for experimentation.

After opening with longtime live track “Seat Of My Pants,” moe. made their way through “Who You Calling Scared?” “Captain America” and “Buster” before playing the newly formed “Pastorus.”

“Pastorus” was birthed out of one of the band’s freeform jams at Summer Camp 2018, and this Red Rocks performance officially solidified its title and melody for the scores of moe.rons in attendance. They closed the first half with “Puebla.”

moe. kicked off set two with the Tin Cans & Car Tires track “Plane Crash” and as previously stated, the band jammed straight through the following eight tunes. Both “Buster” and “Plane Crash” made second appearances in the second half, before the band wrapped things up with “Wind It Up.”

For their encore, moe. welcomed lead singer Greg Ormont and lead guitarist of opener Pigeons Playing Ping Pong to join in on David Bowie’s “Fame,” a track moe. hasn’t played since early 2017. (July 12 also marked Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s first Red Rocks appearance.)
