The last time Tame Impala played in Colorado their brilliant debut Innerspeaker had just been released. Since then the band has continued to push the psychedelic boundaries of rock and roll, and t he music they unleashed on a sold-out Boulder Theater was nothing short of phenomenal. Swirling fuzz, tight drums, layered guitars and synthesizers took the crowd on a sonic journey that went beyond the broad soundscape of Kevin Parker’s recordings. The thumping rock of “Elephant” was a sure standout, and nearly everyone in the audience lost their minds during “Half Full Glass of Wine” and “Sundown Syndrome”. Beautiful colors washed over the band throughout the show, making for entrancing visuals and music that had fully mesmerized the crowd by the time “Apocalypse Dreams” closed out the night.
